Description
AAC was invented in 1923 by Swedish Inventor Johan Axel Eriksson as a cost effective and eco-friendly substitute of red clay bricks as walling material. AAC has been produced for more than 70 years, but it has recently exploded in demand over the last decade due to increased awareness of its excellent properties. AAC Blocks contain 80% Air and therefore weigh only 1/3rd of a clay Brick. It is formed as a reaction of aluminium metal with blended proportion of lime, cement, gypsum & fly Ash. The hydrogen gas escaping from the reaction gives it a strong honey-comb structure. It is further cured in an autoclave under high pressure steam to give its desired strength.
- Its lightweight reduces the dead weight of the structure drastically. Studies show a reduction in foundation steel by 15% and cement 10% if AAC blocks are used.
- AAC Blocks are approximately 9 times larger than clay bricks, which translates into 5 times faster construction & considerable saving in mortar & plaster.
- Highest thermal rating in the industry R30! It provides well insulated interiors, keeping out warm air in summers and cold air in winters. AAC reduces air conditioning cost by up to 30%.
- Use of thinner blocks (6" instead of 9" exterior walls) because of its excellent water barrier & insulation properties leads to an increase in floor space area between 3-5%.
- AAC Blocks are energy efficient and have been certified by the Green Building Council (IGBC) as green building material and is eligible for LEED credits. What's more in today's world plagued with global warming.
- It's one of the most versatile building materials. It can be nailed, drilled, chiselled & cut in any way you want. Plumbing & Electrical conduiting is very easy.
